In honor of Martin Debrovner, admired Uptown Houston Board Chairman, Martin Debrovner Park transforms a small remnant right-of-way into an activated social landscape for the Uptown Houston community. A Live Oak bosque emerges from crushed granite and lawn providing shaded seating and spaces for play, hanging out while walking the dog and the site for a future food trailer and café serving park patrons. The park is landmarked by a stainless-steel column etched with one of Martin’s memorable quotes “If You’re on Time You’re Late” written in the wide array of languages spoken in Houston, an expression of the City’s rich diversity. The park is branded by a divan trellis, signage and “green” Chairman’s Wall recognizing those, like Martin, who have given leadership, time and expertise to Uptown Houston’s evolution into a premier livable urban center. The park is powered to support the food trailer and café, suspended festoon and seasonal lighting.
